Quick Overview

McCord'fixed bail' M-1 steel shell with Inland liner. The steel shell has its original 11 row weave OD3 chinstraps with blackened flat steel buckle. The heat stamp is 653C. The Inland liner is a very rare 'transitional' type. It features cotton suspension, steel A washers and fixed leather chinstrap with square slide buckle. The headband and neckband are of the cotton type. The rarity is the fact the suspension without double snaps for the early rayon headband is combined with a fixed chinstrap. This combination was not known when I published the Limited Edition of my M-1 helmet book in 2007. It was presented as the type 6 liner in the Schiffer Edition of 2010 (pages 190 and 191). Until now this is the only example of this variation I have seen. Although the fixed chinstrap is dry and broken the rarity of this variation liner warrants a place in a collection.
This is an all complete 100% original helmet with rare liner that will make a great addition to a collection. Plus it is featured in a book! It has been in my collection for a long time but its time for a new home. View the many photos.
