Quick Overview

McCord 'fixed bail' M-1 steel shell with type 2 St Clair low pressure liner. The steel shell has its original 11 row weave OD3 chinstraps with raised bar brass buckle. The heat stamp is 432C. The St Clair liner features smooth green exterior paint and unpainted interior with a small yellow SC stamp in the dome. The liner has rayon suspension with fixed leather chinstrap with square sliding buckle. It is complete with a rayon headband and neckband. The type 2 St Clair liner was produced for only a short time. They are in fact harder to find that the type 1 with green painted interior. This interior of this particular liner is featured in my M-1 Helmet book (pages 65 and 69 of the 2007 Limited Edition and page 71 of the 2010 Schiffer Edition). The exterior has remnants of what seems to be a white wash camouflage. The fragile leather chinstrap had a clean break but this has been glued back together. Both the steel shell and liner have the laundry mark 1410 stencilled in black under the rim. The helmet is in very good, all complete and 100% original condition and will make a great addition to a collection. It has been in my collection for a long time but its time for a new home.
