Quick Overview

McCord 'fixed bail' M-1 steel shell with high pressure plastic Inland liner. The steel shell has its original 11 row weave OD3 chinstraps with early type cast brass buckle. The short chinstrap was damaged and the J hook is secured by a knot. The heat stamp is only partially visible but seems to be 26D 3. The steel shell is adorned with painted Sergeant chevrons.
The early Inland liner is type 3 variation. It features smooth exterior paint, rayon suspension with steel A washers and removable chinstrap. This variation is not unusual for a Westinghouse or MSA liner but to find an Inland with rayon suspension is just rare. The liner has handdrawn Staff Sergeant chevrons on the front (promotion?) and a laundry mark. This helmet is featured in my M-1 Helmet book (pages 306 - 307 of the 2007 Limited Edition and pages of 322 - 323 the 2010 Schiffer Edition). It is in very good condition. Fixed bail helmets with painted rank markings are very hard to find. This gem will be a top piece in any collection. Plus its featured in a book!

This is a helmet from the M-1Helmet.com collection.
