Hood Rubber company liner, type 2

€ 725.00

Quick Overview

Hard to find Hood Rubber company liner, all complete and in very good condition. What makes this liner unusual and rare is the fact it lacks the typical reenforcing disc in the crown but does have the glue patch (type 2 variation). The silver HR stamp is on the glue patch. The liner features steel A washers, cotton suspension, vinyl headband (!) and neckband and early type leather chinstrap with green coated steel flat lever buckle. The liner also has it original textured finish with only slight flaking along the edge.
This rare variation Hood Rubber company liner is featured in my M-1 Helmet book (pages 197 of the 2007 Limited Edition and page 207 of the 2010 Schiffer Edition). The headband is actually a very hard to find brown vinyl variation (which was installed after the book was published). These vinyl headbands are exceedingly rare collectibles by themselves and typical for St Clair and Hood Ribber Company liners. This liner is a nice piece for the collection plus it is featured in a book! It has been in my collection for a long time but its time for a new home. View the many photos.

This is a liner from the M-1Helmet.com collection.
