Quick Overview

Excellent condition Hawley fibre liner that features rayon suspension, rectangular aluminum washers and fixed leather chinstrap with brass square slide buckle. The use of aluminum and brass in the liner indicate this was one of the earliest production, late 1941 - early 1942. These materials were shortly after replaced by steel. The sides of the liner has some slight oxidation, probably from the steel shell it once was in. The liner has the LINER-FIBRE-M-1 stamp in black ink under the neckband support (it is a little hard to photograp but it is there). Uncommon are the J&J stamps on each of the V loops of the suspenion. Johnson & Johnson was one of the produceds of rayon suspension, headbands and neckbands. A photo of the stamps on the suspension of this particular liner is presented in my M-1 Helmet book (page 60 of the 2010 Schiffer Edition). Early production fibre liners in excellent condition are hard to find. You'll be hardpressed to find a nicer one than this superb example! Plus this liner is presented in a book.

This is a liner from the M-1Helmet.com collection.
