Quick Overview

Hard to find Hood Rubber company liner in very good condition and all complete. What makes this liner unusual and rare is the fact it lacks the typical reenforcing disc in the crown (type 3 variation). It does have the silver HR stamp. The liner features steel A washers, cotton suspension, cotton headband and neckband and early type leather chinstrap with green coated steel flat lever buckle. The liner also has it original textured finish with flaking along the edge which is very common for HR liners. There is a small crack in back. Under the brim it is marked in tiny letters J.J. HAGE and 32855470. This liner belonged to Joseph. J. Hage, ASN 32855470, who enlisted on April 3, 1943. It seems he was a T/Sgt who served in the ETO, but further research is required.
This rare variation Hood Rubber company liner is featured in my M-1 Helmet book (pages 193 and 198 of the 2007 Limited Edition and pages of 203 and 208 of the 2010 Schiffer Edition). It is a nice piece for the collection plus it is ID-ed and featured in a book!

This is a liner from the M-1Helmet.com collection.
