M-1 Helmet with type 1 Westinghouse liner & helmet net

Quick Overview

McCord 'fixed bail' M-1 steel shell with type 1 Westinghouse liner. The steel shell has its original 11 row weave OD3 chinstraps with brass raised bar buckle. The heat stamp is 28B. The Westinghouse liner is a rare type 1 that features rayon suspension, rectangular steel washers and fixed leather chinstrap with square slide buckle, production 1942. The headband and neckband are of the cotton type, which is not uncommon to see in early type liners as these parts were more comfortable. The helmet has a medium size mesh US made net which still contains its original burlap scrim! A wartime helmet net with its original burlap scrim is exceedingly hard to find. This helmet is featured in my M-1 Helmet book (pages 250-251 and on the back cover of the 2007 Limited Edition and pages 266-267 of the 2010 Schiffer Edition). This is a nicely used, all complete 100% original helmet with rare liner that will make a great addition to a collection. Plus it is featured in a book! The helmet has been in my collection for a long time but it is time for a new home. View the many photos.
