Combat boots with hobnails, size 9 C

Combat boots with hobnails, size 9 C

Quick Overview

Aka 'buckle boots' introduced in 1943. These are actually Type 1, smooth leather service boots (size 9 C) with hobnails and steel rimmed heels that have cuffs (size marked 9 D) added to them. They are complete with their original cotton laces. Hobnailed boots are very hard to find, especially those modified to combat boots. The modification of service boots to buckle boots was quite common to get rid of the cumbersome leggings when buckle boots were not yet in full supply. This type with hobnais is however missing from most collections. The leather of the boots is a bit flakey and a couple of hobnails are missing but overall the boots are still nice. Also the rarity of this modification warrants a place in a collection. This pair has been in my collection for a long time but its time for a new home.

These are boots from the M-1Helmet.com collection.
