McCord'fixed bail' steel shell with St Clair liner in near mint condition. The helmet is 100% original, nothing added, nothing replaced. This type of 'transitional' St Clair liner (type 6) was produced in 1942 and has smooth exterior paint, cotton suspension with double snaps to take the early rayon headband and steel A washers. The leather chinstrap has the green coated buckle with small straight lever buckle. The chinstrap seems not to have been put over the rim of the helmet. Although the helmet was issued and has a laundry mark written in the liner it seems not to have been worn. The only flaw are two small cracks in the sides of the liner. In all a very nice and all complete helmet with rare liner. View the many photos.
This is a helmet from the M-1helmet.com collection.
