Schlueter 'fixed bail' steel shell with Inland liner. The helmet is 100% original, nothing added, nothing replaced. The Inland liner is a transitional type with double snaps in the suspension to take the rayon headband. It has a smooth dark green exterior finish. The leather chinstrap is S marked and has the green coated buckle with small straight lever buckle and holders without the reenforcing tube. These chinstraps are typical for early production Inland liners. Although there is a laundry mark written on the headband and the helmet was obviously issued it seems not to have been worn, it is virtually mint. The leather chinstrap seems not to have been placed over the rim of the helmet and the clip of the long chinstrap of the steel shell is still in its factory placed position. To find a fixed bail M-1 helmet this nice and especially with a transitional Inland in superb condition is rare. View the many photos. This is a helmet from the M-1helmet.com collection.
