Of June 1, 1942 contract. With green coated wire buckle and 2nd type springclips. It is of the earliest production when the leather still had the slits for the springclips. This was soon after improved by cut outs in the leather. The headband is ID-ed to Julius T. Mitchel, ASN 31344082, who enlisted on April 23, 1943. Early production headbands with wire buckle and especially with the slits in the leather are exceedingly rare. This example is in excellent condition, great for display or to be put in a liner and ID-ed to boot! It comes from the M-1 Helmet.com collection stock.
